A discovery set should reduce fragrance purchase uncertainty and lead to a measurable next decision. It is not merely a miniature collection. Curate the scent sequence, protect sample quality, explain evaluation and connect every vial to the correct full-size product.
Choose the commercial role
Decide whether the set acquires new customers, supports gifting, qualifies retailer buyers or monetizes sampling. Define price, credit policy and conversion window for that role. A paid set can filter intent; a free set needs tighter distribution and attribution.
Curate a useful comparison
Include enough contrast for customers to learn their preference without causing fatigue. Arrange samples by intensity, family or wearing occasion and explain the logic. Avoid filling the box with near-duplicates simply because every SKU exists.
Engineer the sample pack
Specify vial, closure, label, fill, code and protective insert. Test leakage, evaporation, legibility and postal handling. Provide enough product for more than one wear and keep batch traceability. The sample must represent the same formula and concentration as its named bottle.
Guide evaluation without over-directing
Offer blotter and skin instructions, a simple scorecard and space between trials. Describe distinguishing character and dry-down, not an answer the customer is expected to repeat. Save preferences or provide a direct link from each sample code.
Measure full-funnel contribution
Track set order, delivery, product-page return, credit use, full-size conversion, days to purchase and repeat order. Include goods, packing, postage, discount and follow-up cost. Compare scent and acquisition cohorts before changing the set or scaling paid traffic.
