Empty Candle Jars: How to Choose Glass Containers for Your Collection

Not every empty glass jar should be treated as suitable for a poured candle. When sourcing empty candle jars, request technical information confirming the intended use and relevant testing.

ASTM F2179 addresses performance requirements for certain glass containers produced for use as filled candle containers, including annealing and thermal shock requirements. Appearance or thickness alone is not sufficient evidence of suitability. Our empty candle jar offering concerns containers for your candle production. Check internal and external dimensions

Record the internal diameter, intended fill height and container shape, as well as the external dimensions needed for labels and boxes.

The container, wax blend, fragrance load and wick must be evaluated together. Documentation for the glass container does not replace assessment of the finished candle’s burning performance.

Confirm the complete supply scope

Before comparing quotations, identify whether you require:

  • Empty glass containers only.
  • Containers with compatible lids.
  • Individual boxes or protective packing.
  • A particular label area or overall size.

Not necessarily. Millilitres measure volume and grams measure mass. The fill weight depends on the wax mixture and chosen fill level.

Is thick glass always suitable for candles?

No. Thickness alone does not establish suitability. Request relevant product information and test documentation.

Can the lid be used to extinguish the candle?

Only if it is designed for that purpose and the product instructions specify that use.
